Mobil SHC Polyrex™ 005 synthetic grease helps extend component life and lubrication intervals on injection molding machines*
Company-estimated annual savings of
US $104KHusky GL-500 & GL-750 plastic injection molding machines
Berry Plastics
Alsip, Illinois, United States
Situation
Berry Plastics operates 17 injection molding machines that maintain rigorous production schedules, running 24 hours a day, 360 days per year. The schedule is especially hard on the machines’ heavily loaded tie bars, which previously experienced excessive wear that impacted production and led to high equipment service costs. After testing several competitive greases, Berry Plastics approached ExxonMobil for a lubricant solution capable of enhancing equipment protection and extending lubrication intervals.
Recommendation
ExxonMobil engineers recommended switching to Mobil SHC Polyrex™ 005 synthetic grease. A NLGI 00 grade grease formulated to resist oxidation and loss of structural stability, Mobil SHC Polyrex 005 is designed to extend relubrication intervals and maintain protection in central grease systems.
Result
After one year in service, detailed inspections showed that Mobil SHC Polyrex 005 synthetic grease helped maintain solid consistency with no signs of hardening, softening, excessive bleeding or deposit formation. As a result, the company was able to extend tie bar regreasing intervals, reduce grease leakage and related housekeeping, and increase equipment in-service time, which generated significant operational savings. The customer elected to convert all 17 of their machines to the new grease.
