Cyprus-based Andreou Bros Ltd was looking at ways to enhance the performance of its eight gas engines. The company was hoping to improve productivity and extend oil drain intervals.
ExxonMobil’s Field Engineering Services (FES) engineers visited the company’s site in Nicosia to assess the engines’ requirements. They recommended a switch to Mobil Pegasus™ 610, which has been specifically formulated for use in modern gas engine designs.
Andreou Bros Ltd also implemented Mobil Serv℠ Lubricant Analysis to monitor the oil’s in-service performance.
Used oil analysis showed that the lubricant’s high base number (BN), in combination with its excellent oxidation and thermal stability, was helping reduce corrosion while enhancing engine cleanliness, which lowered unscheduled downtime. It also indicated that oil drain intervals could be safely extended from 1,200 hours to 2,000 hours without compromising engine operations.
This combination of benefits helped reduce oil waste by 3,900 liters, which contributed to a total saving of €10,277.
