Situation

MPact Plastic Pinetown, a plastic producer in South Africa, aimed to reach the groups national energy spent goals by reducing energy consumption in their 13 Blow Mold and 22 Injection Mold Machines. The site appointed an energy committee to implement various energy saving projects.

Recommendation

After consultation with Mobil FES, a project was identified to reduce energy consumption by switching over from a competitor product to Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46 due to its excellent shear stability under extreme conditions and a wide operating temperature range in various applications. Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46 is a high performance anti-wear hydraulic oil specifically designed to meet the needs of modern, high pressure, industrial and mobile equipment hydraulics systems. ExxonMobil engineers also recommended implementing

Mobil Serv℠ Lubricant Analysis, to help improve equipment durability and reduce unscheduled downtime.

Benefits

Transitioning to Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46 lubricants, allowed the company to achieve energy consumption saving results by an average of 7%. Furthermore operator/machine interaction was reduced by 27 hours annually. By switching to Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46 the company also used about 200 litres less oil per year. Mobil Serv℠ Lubricant Analysis helped to further optimize the Mobil DTE™ 10 Series oil performance by identifying potential failures before they occur allowing to operate at peak efficiency.
