Situation
Beaver Water District operates 112 flocculation drives and 21 vertical turbine pump motors at its water treatment facility in Lowell, Arkansas. The equipment runs 24 hours per day and the pump motors operate in extreme conditions. In an effort to enhance operational efficiency, the plant approached ExxonMobil to identify a lubricant solution capable of extending oil drain intervals.

Recommendation
ExxonMobil engineers recommended the plant switch to Mobil SHC™ 630 synthetic circulating oil. Formulated for severe service applications, Mobil SHC 630 circulating oil is designed to provide excellent resistance to oxidation and deposit formation at elevated temperatures. In addition, ExxonMobil engineers also recommended implementing routine Mobil ServSM Lubricant Analysis to monitor equipment and oil condition.

Result
After transitioning to Mobil SHC 630 synthetic circulating oil, Beaver Water District achieved four years of reliable service without requiring an oil change. During this period, oil drain intervals on the vertical turbine pump motors were also extended to more than three years, reducing maintenance costs, oil consumption and used oil generation. The long lubricant service interval of Mobil SHC 630 oil has helped generate company-estimated annual savings of US $13,837.
