Mobil SHC™ 630 helps coking branch, Xinyu Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Save US$ 1,830 annually
Decreased amps by
3.3%Situation
There are 16 sets of conveyors in the Coking Branch of Xinyu Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. The gearboxes of the conveyors were lubricated with a mineral oil that contributed to abnormal wearing of the gear and short oil drain intervals. In addition, the gearboxes were located at a relatively high position, increasing the safety risk and cost of maintenance.
Recommendation
The ExxonMobil Lube Engineer conducted on-site inspections together with the customer and recommended Mobil SHC 630™ gear oil and Mobil Serv℠ Lubricant Analysis. As Mobil SHC 630 gear oil has excellent high-temperature oxidation stability, low traction coefficient and high viscosity index, it is able to extend oil drain interval and improve the energy efficiency of the system.
Result
After the implementation of Mobil SHC™ 630 synthetic lubricant, the plant managed to achieve a total annual savings of US $1,830. The benefits resulted from:
- Decreasing the average operating temperature of the gearboxes by 6.7°C
- Decreasing the electric motor current by about 3.3%
