Mobil Special Oils are formulated from quality base stocks combined with modern performance additives to give your engine the protection and the performance you expect under a wide variety of operating conditions.
Mobil Special Oils are available in two multi-viscosity grades: SAE 10W-30* and 20W-50.
Mobil Special 10W-30* meet the warranty requirements where an American Petroleum Institute (API) certified oil is specified (Identified by the API “Starburst” on the front label). This viscosity grade is also classified by the API as "Resource Conserving” engine lubricants, and meets or exceeds the latest industry specification ILSAC GF-5 / API SN. Mobil Special 20W-50 meets or exceeds the latest industry specification API SN.
This claim is backward compatible with earlier performance levels such as API SM, SL, and SJ and previous ILSAC categories.

Applications
Mobil Special 10W-30* and 20W-50 are recommended for gasoline fueled automobiles and light duty trucks requiring an API SN, SM, SL or SJ. Mobil Special 10W-30* also meets ILSAC GF-5 (Starburst Certification Symbol).
Mobil Special 20W-50 has a higher viscosity reserve which provides engines with full protection under higher operating speeds, temperatures, and other adverse conditions.
Before using a Mobil Special motor oils, consult the owner's manual of the vehicle for the manufacturer's recommended viscosity grade and API Service Classification.
