Over the years, you’ve probably learned a few tricks to make your life on the road a little easier or cleaner, or even quieter. The best part about having brilliant insights or special tricks is sharing them with others and hearing them say, “What a great idea! I never would have thought of that!” In that spirit, here are some tips you might not have thought of. We hope you think they’re as great as we do.

Rather than deal with a roll of paper towels, keep single paper towel sheets stored within reach to deal with spills. Leftover napkins from restaurants and movie theaters work too.

You can tell how much light is left in the day if you hold your hand up and place your fingers between the horizon and the sun. Count 5 minutes for each finger to tell how much time you have left before dark.

Don't forget the windshield washer fluid.  You never know when you might need it.  And if you're in a cold climate, make sure you use the fluid, and not water, so that it doesn't freeze.

Keep a stash of baby wipes and plastic grocery bags in your car. You never know when they’ll come in handy.

Wash your car when the sun is low in the sky so you don’t have to worry about it drying your car too fast and leaving soap or water spots. Also, avoid rubbing your car dry – it will leave swirl marks in your paint.

Most phone companies have mini versions of the Yellow Pages. Keep it in your trunk or in the back seat so you can look up phone numbers when you need them – but pull over and park first!
